Course Description:

This course is designed as an icebreaker to empower others to talk proactively about suicide. Participants will be introduced to basic suicide prevention steps of QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer). Upon completion, participants will have the primary verbiage to broach the topic of suicide with those around them.

Course Objectives:

  • Participants will learn how to acknowledge another’s despair and pain in efforts to actively identify someone at risk of suicide and can identify those at highest risk for suicide
  • Participants will achieve a working knowledge of QPR for suicide prevention

Author Bio:

Kristina attended the University of Southern Indiana Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. A self-proclaimed “Overcomer”, Kristina worked full time in dentistry until a “football/tailgating” injury sidelined her to guest hygienist status. Embracing the challenge of a career change she began working for a radiology reading group while pursuing and completing a MBA in Healthcare Management. With a focus on building relationships and changing outcomes based on responses, Kristina specializes in turning struggles into victories.
